Meet The Author

Taylor Darks

Taylor Darks (T.B. Darks) is a writer, and author of the new children’s novel The Fluffy Adventures of FroMo. Her first book, Caged: A Poetic Collection of the African American Experience (released in 2017), is currently a part of the Sociology of the Black Experience class curriculum at Florida A&M University. Her second book, Wash Day, a popular children’s book, was released in 2018. Now pursuing a doctoral degree at Florida State University in sociology, Taylor calls Tallahassee, FL home. Caged: A Poetic Collection of the African American Experience

Starting with the arrival of Africans on America’s shores, Caged explores the impact that slavery has had on the African American community. Darks addresses the idea that slavery never truly ended, and continues to thrive in different forms. While raising the question of modern-day slavery, Darks expressing her thoughts and opinions on the psychological self and how the past and present external forces still affect the African American community today
